Plum juice - the product is not only very tasty, but also useful. Since it is not very popular among consumers of packaged juices (which means that finding it on store shelves is more difficult than drinks from other fruits and berries), it is healthier and easier to cook it yourself.

How to make plum juice: general rules

Despite the variety of recipes, there are also general rules for making homemade plum juice, on the basis of which you can create your own variations of the blanks:

  1. The first rule relates to any preservation - cooking should be clean, products should not contain impurities, and jars and lids must first be sterilized or at least clean and rinse with boiling water.
  2. One kilogram of fruit usually accounts for 100 grams of sugar.
  3. Fruits intended for harvesting should be of good quality - ripe, not rotten and not overripe. It is advisable to use sweet varieties, but this, of course, a matter of taste.
  4. In the process of plum is not desirable to mix with other fruits.
  5. To better give the fruit juice, before cooking them scalded with boiling water.

Plum juice: the benefits and harm

Useful properties of the drink are not limited to its relatively low calorie (50 kilocalories per 100 grams). It includes:

  • vitamins B, A, C;
  • potassium and phosphorus;
  • pectins and tannins.

Due to the high content of potassium, the drink has a positive effect on the nervous system, strengthens blood vessels, and, therefore, can be used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Important! Plum juice is good for the intestines and has a laxative and diuretic effect, softer than the one that occurs after eating fresh fruit.

The antioxidants contained in the drink have a beneficial effect on the body, improving skin and hair condition. Useful drink and people suffering from high cholesterol in the blood, as well as anemia, kidney disease and liver.

However, this product has its drawbacks. First, it is not recommended for use in the case of individual contraindications. Secondly, despite the low calorie content, it cannot be used for weight loss (and it is strictly forbidden for obesity or diabetes mellitus), since the ratio of BJU in it is extremely uneven - there is a strong bias towards carbohydrates. Thirdly, it is better not to abuse them in case of gastrointestinal diseases and rheumatism.
